                                                          January 20, 2011 Meeting Minutes

                                                                    Jones Creek Library

           President Linda Baumann welcomed members to the meeting at 6:30 pm.                                       

           Minutes of the November 2010 meeting were approved. No minutes were taken in December as the Christmas Party was the only activity of our guild.

           Treasurer Paula St.Romain reported a balance of $869.80 in the treasury. She stated that annual dues of $12.00 are due now.

           Guild cook books (40) are available to buy & sell by members at $5.00 each. Glen Parks has them, please contact her to purchase or have some on hand to sell.

           Donated fabric that has been washed was discussed. Ideas for using this fabric were mystery, children, home & quickly accomplished quilts. Valarie Barth suggested we plan to have a Saturday sew day & set up stations to press, cut & sew to make easily constructed quilts.                                                                                    

           The August Quilt Show at the Jones Creek Library 2011 was discussed. Becky Fincher stated that the library would like to us to have the  show up for two months this year as it was soo well received by the public last year with much praise of the show extended to the library staff members. The guild voted to agree to allow our quilts & quilted articles & clothing to be displayed in Aug. & Sept.

          The guild now has 34 poles to hang quilts from the ceiling & other articles were displayed on walls, ledges & in display cases including the left entry wall show case. Two recommendations were made to have a guest book for the public to sign & an award offered, Viewer’s Choice Best of Show.  A Ribbon will be ordered and placed on the winning entry.                                                                                                               

              

            The guild voted to conduct a Strip Exchange this year.  Each month of the year was designated a color strip to bring –

  Jan.- white    March- green    May- pink        July- blue           Sept.- black      Nov- turquoise

  Feb.- red      April- purple      June-yellow      Aug.- brown        Oct.- orange     Dec.-

            Dee offered to bring brown paper bags – one for each participant whose name will be put on bag.                                                                        

               Strips are to measure 2 ½” by 22”. If you wish to participate in this group activity please bring 20 white & 20 red strips to place one red & one white strip into each participants bag & your own to this weeks meeting. More information will be discussed at the meeting.

            Merlene Lewis delivered 38 preemie quilts to Woman’s Hospital & reported how gratefully the lady appreciated our donation to the ICU. Merlene delivered the thank you note from the hospital to the guild.
