 Sassi Strippers Quilt Guild
September 15, 2011 Meeting minutes
 Jones Creek Public Library

Vice President Becky Fincher opened the meeting at 6:30 pm and welcomed members & guests.

Kathy Brown, our own Baton Rouge fabric & ruler designer, pattern & book author, presented a most warm program on the path of her steps taken in her chosen career path. Everyone enjoyed her sharing, showing & gracious personality. A super, relaxed, inspiring evening was presented for all present. Kathy is with Red Rooster Fabrics. Her company is: “The Teacher’s Pet”.

Valerie Barth received donated fabric from a former quilter, Margaret Stephens, which Valarie stored at her home & washed & folded into groups of  fabric types of use. The guild voted to give non-quilting fabric, garment & sewing magazines & notions to the American Sewing Guild now. Quilting magazines will be used as prizes at guild meetings. Names of quilt groups who may be interested in accepting extra fabric for charity quilt work may be given to Valerie as some of the fabric may be shared.

Jessie Comeaux presented the completed “Wonky House Quilt” to Valarie Barth to deliver to Habitat for Humanity. This quilt that our members  Participated in the making & finishing of will be raffled at their annual fund raiser in November, 2011. Our guild also made & donated eight quilts to   Braveheart & seven to Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is also sponsoring an art auction at their Reuse store on Airline Highway. Lynn Clark is the Executive Director of our Baton Rouge location.

Our own Jan Delgehausen will present her program on how she makes a Christmas ornament that was one of those displayed in our two quilt shows at the library. She is requesting that members bring straight pins & small sharp scissors to use in making the ornament as she will provide fabric pieces etc. from her stash. This should be a wonderful.

A nominating committee will be formed to present a slate of officers for the two year term of 2012-2013. Nominations from the floor will also be taken. Karol Guidry will chair. Members who serve on the nomination committee can not run for office.
