Meeting Minutes February 20 2014

President Karol Guidry called the meeting to order at about 6:40pm.

She introduced the officers.

The meeting minutes for the previous month were posted to the blog Site. Kathy made a motion for the minutes to be accepted as posted after a small correction.  Betty seconds the motion.  The members voted in favor of the motion.

Treasurer, Elsie Hamway presented the treasurer report.  The balance for February was $1,054.90.  Kathy made a motion for the Treasurer’s Report to be accepted as given.  Valerie V. seconds the motion.  The treasurer’s report was accepted.

The March Program will be a visit from Judy Holley.  She will be presenting her method of turning pictures into quilts.  Karol brought to the floor our plan for thank you gifts to presenters.  After some discussion, the guild voted to give each guest speaker a check for $25.  Elsie stated she would write the check for Judy and Karol would present it.

Unfinished Projects (UFO’s) – Jessie Comeaux

A copy of the blank form is posted on to the blog site.  Enter the game and have fun racing for the lead and have the bonus of moving a lot of unfinished projects.  To qualify as finished, the quilt has to be quilted, bound and preferably brought to show and tell during a meeting.  Just sign up your ufo’s with Jessie.  A quilt can be added anytime during the year.

Tabs - Betty Braud

Betty Braud is the quilt guild contact of this charity project.  Just remember when you pop a top pull the tab and collect them to bring to a meeting. We are giving them to the reopened New Orleans McDonald’s house.

Door Prizes – Sharon Holder

Sharon will collect the door prizes. Please bring things to donate for prizes. A prize will be pulled during each meeting.

Quilt Show – Renee’ Hoeprich

Renee’ is the chair for our Annual Quilt Show this year.  She will need some committee members to help her.  Our annual quilt show is always greatly received by the community.  Setup is planned for August 1 & 2.  Demo Day is planned for August 23rd.  We plan to take down the show August 28th.  The Quilt Show has been on the library calendar since the last show.  Please mark your calendar to plan for the quilt show and get your quilts ready to be displayed during the show.  Remember the quilt is not finished until you have sewn in a hanging sleeve and a label.

Charity Quilts – Merlene & Elsie

The guild will making charity quilts will go to Generations Hospice, OLOL Children’s Hospital and The Cancer Services.  We will also continue to make the stuffed teddy bears to donate for the Children’s Hospital.  The quilts you make need be no smaller than 50 x 60.  You may use any pattern you wish.  It was suggested for the Guild to request 15 panels from Wasted Women.
