Sassi Strippers Quilt Guild

President Karol Guidry called the meeting to order at
about 6:30 p.m. The topic for this
meeting was the upcoming Annual Quilt Show.
Elsie Hamway presented the treasurer report as
unchanged. The balance for the month of April was 1,065.90. Valerie V. made a motion for the Treasurer’s
Report to be accepted as given. Jessie
second the motion. The treasurer’s
report was accepted as given. Elsie
also gave us a members list with contact information and asked everyone to
check for errors.
The meeting minutes for April were not
available. Secretary Becky read the
May minutes. Sharon made a motion for
accepting the minutes and Karol second the motion. The minutes were accepted with some changes.
BLOG SITE - Valerie Valle
Meeting minutes and pictures and etc. are posted on the

. Everyone is encouraged to read the
blogspot. Valerie added Renee’ and Pam
as administrators because of her time limitations.
Unfinished Projects (UFO’s) – Jessie Comeaux
A copy of the blank form is posted on the blog site. Enter the game and have fun racing for the
lead and have the bonus of moving a lot of unfinished projects. To qualify as finished, the quilt has to be
quilted, bound and preferably brought to show and tell during a meeting.
Tabs - Betty Braud
Betty Braud is the quilt guild contact for this charity
project. Just remember when you pop a
top pull the tab and collect them to bring to a meeting. We are giving them to
the reopened New Orleans McDonald’s house.
Door Prizes – Sharon Holder
Sharon needs more items for the door prize basket. Three door prizes were drawn for.
Quilt Show – Renee’ Hoeprich
Renee’ is the chair for our Annual Quilt Show this
year. Bring your quilts labeled and
with sleeve attached to be in the quilt show to our July meeting. Plan to be part of the hanging of the quilts
and changing the library into a colorful museum. Plus, we get to spend time with our quilting friends while doing
it.The quilts will go up August 1st. Demo day is scheduled for the 23rd. It is a wonderful day to share our love of
quilts and the art of quilting with the public young and old.
Charity Quilts – Merlene & Elsie
The guild will making charity quilts will go to
Generations Hospice, OLOL Children’s Hospital and The Cancer Services. We will also continue to make the stuffed
teddy bears to donate for the Children’s Hospital. The quilts you make need be no smaller than 50 x 60. You may use any pattern you wish. Need more bears sewn to be stuffed at the
Giving Quilt Show. Also discussed
wheelchair quilts that would be 36 x 26 inches.
Just Do It – Pam Tennyson
“Quilt in a Box” involves each member picking a block to
make for everyone. We will end up with
12 blocks that are 12 inches in size.
Pam has emailed the instructions.
We are also invited to enter The Giving Quilt challenge, which involves
making a quilt using the red dimple fabric as one of the fabrics in the
quilt.
Program
Renee issued a challenge that we join GSQA as a
guild. Also she continued with her
program. The information for the
program is on the blog.
Show & Tell

Livonia, LA Guild has a Sit & Sew every 4th
Monday of the month in 2014 from 9 a.m.‘til at the First Baptist Church in
Livonia.
Red Stick Wool Hookers meet at library every Thursday.
Embroidery Guild of America has both day and night meeting
at our library.
Island Batiks web site has free patterns for Veterans
