5. Unfinished Business Slate of Officers for the 2021 SSQG Board are : President – Pam Tennyson, Vice-President – Dee Jeffers, Secretary – Cheryl Myers, Treasurer – Merilyn Wilson.

There were no other nominations from the floor. Motion by Betty to accept the slate as presented; Seconded by Valerie; Motion accepted.

6. New business December Christmas Party will be by ZOOM on December 10 at 6:30 pm. Suggestions include wearing fun Christmas attire, eating together, door prizes, Zoom friendly games.

9. Announcements – Cheryl is in contact with the Jones Creek library for future meeting space. If we can’t meet in person just yet, she is hoping to reserve a room before turning over the presidency.

The Giving Quilt is collecting quilts to be delivered to Southwest Louisiana for people in areas affected

by the recent hurricanes. If members have any quilts they would like to donate, contact The Giving

Quilt.

Hello my talented beauties,

We welcome 2021 with open arms and gladly say goodbye to 2020!  I want to send a big shout out to Cheryl Myers for her services as 2020 SSQG President.  I don’t know if we have ever had such a year full of so many challenges to overcome.  With her cool and calm demeanor, she was the perfect fit.  She met all of those challenges and managed to keep us in contact and to even see each others faces when it was a time of isolation for so many.  Cheryl, the guild appreciates all of your efforts, ideas and creativity.  You are truly a bright light and we are blessed to have you, thank you so much!

Ladies, the guild gives you a standing ovation for the difference that you made in so many lives and we thank you for your service in 2020!

One of our angels on earth, Elsie Hamway, gained her wings in 2020.  She was an active guild member and a dear friend who was always sincere, kind, a gentle soul and an extremely talented lady.  Elsie, we miss you everyday and it was such an honor to be a part of your life, until we meet again...

So lets continue to make a difference,  live, love & laugh!  We have lots to discuss, lets welcome our new 2021 SSQG Board:

5. Unfinished Business: Nominating Committee will consist of Cheryl, Pam, Karen, Marilyn. Cheryl will send a letter to all members asking for volunteers to fill the Executive Board positions – President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Cheryl volunteered to be Secretary. If the positions are not filled, the nominating committee will phone all the members. The members present brainstormed ideas of how the Guild could continue on in these challenging quarantine times.

   12. Red/White/Blue Quilts (Sharon H./Mynan G.) Fran delivered 18 quilts to the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. Visitors are not permitted inside at this time. SSQG has delivered a total of 78 quilts to the veterans, so far.

5. Unfinished Business – A ZOOM membership will be purchased for one year as per the email vote and discussion at tonight’s meeting. Possible meeting places were explored by Cheryl but there are no rooms available for the foreseeable future.

6. New business October is the month for a nominating committee to be chosen. All current officers have served 2 years and new officers will need to be chosen. If any members would like to serve on the guild board, please contact Cheryl.

Members are asked to think of ideas for a possible guild Christmas celebration in case meeting in person is still not possible.

8. Show and Tell Karen, Merlene, Pam, Karol, Valerie, Betty, Fran, Marilyn, Cheryl, Kathy.

9. Announcements – The Giving Quilt/Wasted Women are collecting quilts to distribute to Southwest Louisiana for Hurricane Laura relief. Members may donate any size quilts to this effort, as well as any finished stuffed bears you may have on hand. The bi-yearly Quilt Show will be virtual in 2021 instead of in-person – more information to come soon.

Cheryl will continue to send links to the Global Quilt Connection videos of possible quilt teachers and lecturers. If members find any classes or lectures from the Quilt Connection that might interest the quild members, please mention the information about topic, cost, time, etc. to Cheryl or at a meeting.

Valerie reported that Remember Me Quilt Guild and the Modern Quilt Guild will share a lecture from the Global Quilt Connection choices – uses of handkerchiefs in quilts.
