June 16, 2011 Meeting Minutes

President Linda Baumann opened the meeting at 6:40 pm welcoming all members present and our Guest Daisy Comeaux our evening program presenter.
Treasurer Paula St.Romain reported a $1143.00 balance in the club treasury. SSQG has 23 members currently. She also brought & donated a large variety of solid colored fabric yardage to the guild to be used in the making of charity quilts.
Secretary’s report was accepted with two corrections; wrong website was reported for wonky houses (see correct below).
Quilt Show Committee Members reported progress in planning for a successful show again this year. Becky Fincher is Chairwoman; Glenda Parks is Co-Chairwoman, Valarie Barth - Publicity, Norma Mc Daniel – Documentation, Linda Baumann - Children’s Programs. Valerie Valle will receive all quilts & keep them at her home. Charity quilts will be given to Habitat for Humanity & Braveheart at 2pm at open house demo day on August 6. All members are requested to invite all family, friends and interested people to attend open house – demo day as all are encouraged to come out as we will all be there to welcome the public. The show will be up for the month of August. The Show committee will be e-mailing all needed information to you. July 28 is the hanging date. Quilts are requested to be brought to the July 21 meeting. Valerie Valle will send a form via e – mail requesting measurements of each quilt or object you may put in the show to plan location of entries, Please bring this to the meeting. The last day entries will be accepted is July 28 at the library at set up time. A Guest Book, Viewer’s Choice vwere suggested to be additions to this year’s show.
Unfinished Project Chairwoman Jessie Comeaux reported 142 UFO’s entered by members with 14 finished so far this year.

Daisy Comeaux, owner of Cottage Creations Quilt Shop located on Bayou Paul Road in St. Gabriel , La. , presented a delightful program on making fabric roses with the majority of the guild participating . The meeting room was filled with beautiful roses. Daisy told the guild that she has the fusible for sale at her shop to make the double wedding ring quilt she showed us completed for $35.00 & also another quilt she showed us completed as well. A wonderful time was had by all.
Door prizes were won by Dee, Jan & Karol. A rose donated by Daisy was won by Karol & went home with Linda with Love.
Strip color for exchange July 21 meeting is BLUE !!!!
