Sassi Strippers Quilt Guild
September 19, 2014
President Karol Guidry called the meeting to order at
about 6:40 p.m.
She introduced the officers and welcomed our visitors.
Elsie Hamway presented the treasurer’s report. The balance for September is $1,046.30. Renee made a motion for the Treasurer’s
Report to be accepted as given. Sharon
second the motion. The treasurer’s
report was accepted. The meeting minutes
for August were presented and approved.
BLOG SITE - Valerie Valle
Program
Judy Momengadeh
gave us a wonderful trunk show. Her
quilts are stunning and everyone enjoyed her and the quilts. She also discussed her technique and products
that work for her. She designs and sales
patterns and teaches classes at the local quilt shop.
Meeting minutes and pictures and etc. are posted on the
blog site. The address for the blog site is http://sassistrippersquiltguild.blogspoit.com/
Unfinished Projects (UFO’s) – Jessie Comeaux
She was not available for the meeting this month. A copy of the blank form is posted on the
blog site. Enter the game and have fun
racing for the lead and have the bonus of moving a lot of unfinished
projects. To qualify as finished, the
quilt has to be quilted, bound and preferably brought to show and tell during a
meeting.
Tabs - Betty Braud
Betty Braud is the quilt guild contact for this charity
project. Just remember to pop a top,
pull the tab and collect them to bring to a meeting. We are giving them to the
reopened New Orleans McDonald’s house.
Door Prizes – Sharon Holder
Sharon needs more items for the door prize basket. As you clean out your quilting treasures
remember items for door prizes. One
person’s junk is someone else treasure.
Just Do It – Pam Tennyson
“Quilt in a Box” involves each member picking a block to
make for everyone. We will end up with
12 blocks that are 12 inches in size.
Pam has emailed the instructions.
We are also invited to enter The Giving Quilt challenge, which involves
making a quilt using the red dimple fabric as one of the fabrics in the
quilt. Everyone is excited about this
project and have blown through it.
Looking forward to seeing the new quilts.
Quilt Show – Renee Hoeprich
The Quilt Show was
another successful project. Wonderful
comments were left in our visitors log and of course the library folks always
love them. MS Yvonne reported the
library will be including a virtual tour on their website for each
library. The filming was done while our
quilts were up. Something else for us to
look forward and enjoy. Karol reported the
winners for Viewer’s Choice. First Prize went to Jessie, second went to Elsie
and third prize went to Valerie.
Everyone needs to be thinking about next year’s show as you are quilting.
Charity Quilts – Merlene and Elsie
Merlene shared the
good news of how many quilts and bears the guild had made this year. We have given Generations 11 quilts, Cancer
Services received 12 quilts and OLOL received 14 for a grand total of 37. We also have sewn a total of 257
bears. We have given 29 to Generations,
29 to Cancer Services and 25 to OLOL. We
have 164 bears left for the show at Lamar-Dixon.
Christmas Party in December
The Guild decided
to check out Portobello’s and City CafĂ©.
The Party will be in lieu of the monthly meeting December 15, 2014 at
6pm. Please remember to bring a quilting related gift for $15 to participate in
the gift exchange. More information next month.

We all enjoyed the
wonderful quilts everyone is finishing.
It is fun to hear the stories.
