Sassi Strippers Meeting Minutes – April 20, 2017

1. President (Sharon H.) called the meeting to order at 6:41 p.m.

2. Sign in, Welcome to two guests, Andrea Goettert and Ann Gibbons.

3. Reading of the minutes and motion to accept

b. VP/Programming (Mynan) – Daisy Comeaux tonight. Kathy Brown will join us in May to talk about wool and punch needle.

Mynan shared what the Mystery Quilt should look like so far and passed out instructions for Step 2.

c. Secretary (Becky F.) – absent. Minutes were sent out.

d. Historian/Blog Master (Marilyn H.) – reported that she resolved the sizing issue with the photos on the blog site.

The Mystery Quilt instructions are on the blog site.

e. UFOs/Unfinished Business (Kathy S.) – absent. Projects must be started in 2016 or before and completely finished (quilting and binding) to qualify. Karen Williams shared two quilts. She will get to pick two items from the treat basket next month.

f. Tabs (Cheryl A.) – collected. Read thank you note from Ronald McDonald House.

g. Door prizes (Valerie K.) absent. Pam T. filled in. Door prizes were won by Sharon H., Merlene L. and Pam T.

h. Just Do It! (Sharon H.) – Discussed details regarding upcoming road trip. Members will leave at 8 a.m. Sat. April 29^th en route to Block Therapy in Gautier, MS. On the return trip there will also be stops at All Stitched Up By Angela in Slidell and Sew This! In Abita Springs.

i. Quilt Show – Members discussed how to manage the show this year since fewer people were able to quilt this past year.

j. Charity quilts (Merlene L. and Cheryl A.) – Marilyn shared one of the quilts from Joann’s that she quilted.

5. Unfinished business – none

6. New business – Superior Thread handout. Members to let Sharon H. know if they would like a copy.

Shop Hop will be the 1^st and 2^nd weedend of August.

7. Tonight’s program – Daisy Comeaux shared how to make fat quarter roses.

8. Show and Tell – Karen W. showed an Easter Skinny wall hanging and a no-sew sock bunny.

9. Announcements / Next Meeting – Next meeting is May 18^th.

Update on Bridge Over Troubled Waters event that was held on April 1^st. Over 90 sewing machines and 10,000 yards of fabric were among the many things that were collected and distributed to quilter’s who had lost things in the flood of August 2016. Several members attended this event.
