July Meeting 7/21/2016

Hello my talented beauties,

I hope everyone is being good to themselves during this very sad & trying time. I am so thankful to have quilting in my life that brings me serenity & joy! I want to tell y’all how thankful I am to have each of you in my life! I think everyone of you are beautiful, inside & out! You are such lovely & talented quilters that continue to give back to our community on a regular basis. I just want you to know how valued you are! We have our next meeting on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 6:30 pm @the Jones Creek library. We will be focusing on the Quilt Show during the meeting. Please bring your quilts to turn in to me at the meeting, if you couldn’t print out a form online, copies will be provided at the meeting. Remember, all the quilts need to have a sleeve sew on or safety pinned on the top of the back of the quilt that goes all the way across from binding to binding. All quilts need to be turned in with a completed form, clean, free of lint, threads, hair of any kind. One case for the quilt show we will be going to be focused on our Sassi Stripper Quilt Guild, to let the community see what we do. If you have any memorabilia of anything to do with our guild & don’t mind letting us borrow it, could you please bring it to the meeting. We would also like to have a tribute to our law enforcement and country. If you have any items or quilts that are patriotic or in this theme, please bring those as well. All ideas & suggestions are welcome at the meeting for the quilt show. Please keep making bears for the show, you know they love to stuff those bears! Last year we received so many compliments on your works of art! The library staff looks forward to it every year. Please invite all your guilds, friends & family to the quilt show. The kids had a blast last year so don’t forget to invite them as well, they are the future quilters! Our Road Trip to Mia’s Quilt Shop & Duke’s Restaurant was so much fun!!! I believe we had 12 ladies join us. It was perfect timing because Mia’s just happened to be having a sale! The ladies enjoyed Duke’s atmosphere, food & service so much that we would like to see if everyone would like to have our Christmas Party there! Always lots going on with the Sassi Strippers! Please bring any completed UFO’s, donations for door prizes & tabs to be turned in to the meeting. Most definitely bring Show-n-Tell! One last thing, our guild member, Angie Hebert, is making goodie bags. They are for the police officers, canine officers, firefighter & EMS employees. She is also attaching thank you notes as well! I just wanted to share this with you because I think it is a great cause. If you would like to donate any homemade or mixes for cookies, brownies, dog treats or baking supplies please bring those to the meeting as well. You can also just write a note or a thank you card to them. I know it is short notice, you can make arrangements with Angie about another time. This is completely optional & not guild related, just heart related. So come on, join me for another night of fun, creativity & fellowship!

Humbly yours,

Pam Tennyson

June Meeting 6/16/2016

Hello my talented beauty's,

I hope everyone is avoiding the rain & the heat by staying inside and  quilting, quilting, quilting!  We have our next meeting on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 6:30 PM @ the Jones Creek library. I would like to thank Sandra Guilbeau, who shared an extremely informative presentation on "Threadology".  She prepared a Power Point presentation & handouts on the different types of threads that she shared with the guild.  The members learned so much from everything she shared with us and we are so grateful for it, Thank you Sandra!

I want to thank everyone who came to the "Bear Sew Day"!  It is always so much fun spending time together & being productive at the same time, love you ladies!  At the June meeting we are going to be working on Bears, Bears, Bears!  I will be bringing the bolt of fabric that Kathy donated for the Bears for you to use if needed.  Please bring whatever you individually need to work on the Bears tonight.  As we work on the Bears throughout the meeting, we be focusing on the upcoming quilt show for the library that will be held in August. Please let me know what you will be hanging at the Quilt Show, I want to start getting an  idea of what we will have this year. Remember, all entries must have a sleeve on the back, must be clean, free of any threads or hair of any kind.  If you have a quilt that you don't want to attach a sleeve to, you can pin a sleeve on the back as long as it hangs perfectly straight (Please speak with me about that if you have one that needs to be pinned).  The members want to hang the charity quilts again this year at the quilt show & we will also be adding to the storybook quilts this year as well. Thank you so much for all you wonderful ladies continue to do, give and contribute all year round!  I have said it before & I will say it again, you are all truly, Angels on earth!

A reminder that we have a "Road Trip" scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2016.  We will meet at 10:00 am at the Target parking lot on Millerville.  We will be going to Mia's Cafe Quilt Shop who is having a sale that day (Yay for us!), then we will be going to eat at Duke's restaurant.  Please let me know if you will be joining us.  Please bring your door prize donations & tabs to be turned in, as well as any completed UFOs & Show-n-tell to share! So come on, join me for another night of fun, creativity and fellowship!

Humbly yours,

Pam Tennyson?

Hello my talented beauties,

I hope everyone is enjoying their love of quilting!  We have our next meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m at the Jones Creek Library.  I would like to thank Debbi Kelly, for a fun filled night on the education of English Paper Piecing.  Everyone was listening, laughing & learning while their hands were just a piecing away!  Debbi's work was so inspiring that we have quite a few more English Paper Piecers in the guild now!  I know she blew it out of the park because we had new faces from SSQG at the Montage Group last Sunday!

We are thrilled to have Sandra Guilbeau share her knowledge on "Threadology" for the May meeting.  Thread is such a crucial part of quilting with so many options.  I can't wait to suck up everything she has learned & willing to share with us on this topic!

I am so happy to share that we have 3 more members who joined our guild at the April meeting!  I would like to once again, welcome Angie & Elva and welcome back, Janell to our guild!  Our guild has been growing but we still have such a close & personal group of extremely talented women!

I want to announce that we have scheduled a "Bear Sew Day" for June 6, 2016  Mark your calendars if you can attend,   it will be at my Salon location.  We will start at 10 a.m. until, very casual so come & go as you please.  Kathy S has been kind enough to donate a bolt of fabric so we will have that there for you to use if needed.  Please let me know if you can make it & I will give you the address.  We will also schedule our next road trip at the May meeting!  We will talk about set up & take down dates as well for the Quilt Show at the library.   Please continue working on your quilts for the show.   Please bring your tabs, any door prize donations, finished UFO's & Show-n-Tell to share, so lets get this party started!!!  Come join me for another night of fun, creativity & fellowship!

Humbly yours,

Pam Tennyson
